If someone told you it was possible, on a single tour, to go birdwatching, enjoy wine tasting, and witness cork harvesting, would you believe it? Of course you would — provided they were talking about the “Grande Tour of the Companhia das Lezírias”!
This adventure begins with a stop to observe flamingos that paint the banks of the Tagus pink, continues to the Catapereiro Winery for a memorable wine tasting, and reaches the cork oak woodland where, in addition to all the biodiversity you can spot, it is also possible (at the right time of year) to see how cork is harvested from the trees.
There will be time for lunch near the Companhia das Lezírias’ Stud Farm, before heading off towards the Tagus estuary in search of more birds, passing through rice fields, pastures with cattle, and Lusitano horses.
